Buckinghamshire Local Skills Improvement Plan – Digital Sector

Buckinghamshire Local Skills Improvement Plan – Digital Sector

A meeting to agree Emerging Skills Priorities and Solutions.

Calling all Bucks-based Digital businesses

We are inviting representatives from the Digital Sector in Buckinghamshire to join us for the next stage of consultation on the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for the county.

The Digital Sector has been designated as a priority sector for Buckinghamshire and following the initial consultation event in January 2023, this meeting will bring together employers and training providers to agree on skills priorities for the Digital Sector and explore the solutions with education and training providers.

The meeting will be hosted by SAS UK, home of Buckinghamshire's Analytics Software and Solutions and will include a light lunch along with refreshments.

Why it Matters

Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) has been appointed by the Department for Education to be the designated Employer Representative Body (ERB) for Buckinghamshire and to develop the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP). This is a major government initiative intended to reshape post-16 education and training across England. LSIPs are part of the government’s approach to reshaping the technical skills system in England.  They set out key priorities and changes needed to post-16 technical education and training in order that it can be more responsive local labour market needs. This provides an opportunity for Digital businesses to make it easier to recruit skilled employees and upskill their existing employees.

BBF will be submitting the priorities to the Department for Education at the end of March 2023 and then potential solutions and changes required by the end of May 2023.

How the meeting will work

The event will be an opportunity for Digital businesses to feedback on the initial findings of a series of bilateral meetings and ensure that the priorities are correct and representative. Attendees will also brainstorm and debate possible solutions to address some of the key issues.

Please note: All members of the Digital Provider sector group network are required to be at decision-maker level of a Buckinghamshire-based organisation within the Digital sector.
