Buckinghamshire Council calls for brownfield sites for Local Plan

Buckinghamshire Council is working on its new local plan for the period up to 2040. They are asking landowners, developers and community groups to highlight brownfield sites for possible inclusion.

“Buckinghamshire Council is beginning work on its new local plan to cover the period up to 2040.

“This plan will cover the whole of Buckinghamshire, identifying how much development is needed, where it should happen and what it will be like. We are asking for views on two important building blocks of the plan.

Statement of Community Involvement

“The first is the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which sets out how we engage with you, our residents and businesses, when we make planning decisions either on planning applications or developing our plans.

“We recognise that planning affects people’s daily lives, as the decisions we make shape the places we live and work in. As a result, we want to involve communities as early in the process as possible.

“We are consulting on a draft SCI between February 16th and March 22nd 2021.

“Read more information and have your say here.

Brownfield Call for Sites

“The second is the Brownfield Call for Sites. These will be sites which we believe will have an important part to play in meeting our development needs in the future.

“We are asking landowners, developers, house builders, community groups, parish councils and members of the public to tell us about brownfield sites that could be included in our new plan for development.

“The types of sites we are looking for include land that was previously used for any kind of employment and is now vacant or underused, and empty retail units and garage sites. We are also interested in any of these types of site that will become vacant over the next 5-10 years.

“Learn more about what qualifies as a brownfield site here.

“Please send us sites by March 22nd 2021.
