Business Awards Sponsor in the Spotlight: Buckinghamshire Council

As we build up to the 2021 Buckinghamshire Business Awards, we are speaking with each of our amazing awards sponsors to find out why they wanted to be involved.

This week, we take a closer look at Buckinghamshire Council, sponsors of the Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year Award.

What does it mean to Buckinghamshire Council to be involved with the Buckinghamshire Business Awards?

“As a Council and the largest employer in Buckinghamshire, we are proud to continue our sponsorship of the Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year Award. It is a hugely important award and reflects the importance we attach, as an employer of hundreds of young people ourselves, to their career development."

Why did you want to sponsor the Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year category?

"This award is a fantastic recognition of local employers that are prepared to invest in young people – particularly in their talent, enthusiasm, and fresh outlook - and to give them their first step onto the career ladder."

How crucial is it to recognise the businesses in the county supporting young people at the start of their careers and those wanting to develop skills through an apprenticeship?

"This Council wants to see every young person achieve the best they possibly can. If this can be with a local company or organisation, that is even better – as that means valuable investment in the Buckinghamshire economy which has never been more important during these difficult and testing times.

"We know from previous years that there are some fantastic organisations out there doing amazing development work with our apprentices and young people."
