Cyber Fraud: The art of the online hustle

Cyber Fraud: The art of the online hustle

Cyber fraud is evolving into a more sophisticated game, especially scams targeted at businesses.

Has a deceased, distant and unknown relative left you millions? Could you help a stranger appropriate millions of pounds in return for half of the money?  Is your bank sending you emails asking you to click on a link? These are all scams we are familiar with and can easily identify as cyber fraud. But what if fraud were more coordinated, premeditated, targeted and specific?

Cyber fraud is evolving into a more sophisticated game, especially scams targeted at businesses. Why? Businesses can be perceived as easier targets because more decision makers are involved, company information is readily available online, internal approval process may not be clear and budgets are bigger.

Come and hear from the following experts with advice to share with businesses:

  • Jon Jackson, Senior Lecturer at Bucks New University and an expert in web technologies
  • Mark Godsland, CyberProtect Officer at Thames Valley Police
