Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit an experienced Technician Electrical for our Skilled Service Industries department in Aylesbury.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • To support and teach at all levels, appropriate to qualifications and experience, within the relevant Team and elsewhere within the College as required.
  • To manage the workshops through liaison with the lecturer and HOD to ensure they are equipped and ready for planned practical sessions.
  • To ensure that students are abiding by the College Code of Conduct and their behaviour is appropriate.
  • To support & supervise & instruct students whilst on self-directed study, both in the presence and absence of the tutor.
  • To ensure records of student achievements are maintained as required by the Sector and relevant external bodies.
  • To keep accurate and up to date registers of classes taught of learner attendances, lateness and marks.

Person Specification

Essential:

Formal Qualification

  • Level 2 qualification in relevant subject area.
  • Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area
  • Teaching qualification/ or willingness to obtain designated teaching qualification within specified time.
  • Maths and English qualification to Level 2 or higher
  • Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or willingness to work towards
  • Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice (CLIQA) or willingness to work towards.

Knowledge

  • An in-depth and practical knowledge of relevant subject.
  • Knowledge of current qualification structure.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting Further Education.
  • An understanding of, and demonstrable commitment to, Safeguarding Children and Young People (Every Child Matters) and Vulnerable Adults.

Experience

  •  Relevant, successful experience of instructing and demonstrating or teaching.
  • Recent successful professional experience in the relevant area.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate with a range of students on both theoretical and practical aspects.
  • Ability to lead students to the successful completion of their course.
  • Able to manage an instructor/technician (where appropriate).
  • A skills ability to teach a range of subjects.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to use full ICT facilities supporting the learning process
