Adepteq, a Microsoft Solutions Partner with strong roots in Buckinghamshire, has released new research suggesting that while workplace technology adoption is high among respondents, many users still struggle to find the information they need to work effectively.
Based on feedback from 110 SharePoint users, Adepteq's SharePoint User Experience Report found that 81% of respondents use SharePoint daily, yet 38% experience findability challenges weekly or daily. More than a third (36%) said better search functionality would have the biggest impact on their overall experience.
The survey also found that while 60% of respondents described themselves as confident SharePoint users, only 68% trusted that documents were stored correctly.
Phil Cave, Technical & Digital Transformation Director at Adepteq, said:
"Many organisations have invested significant effort in driving technology adoption and encouraging employees to use digital workplace tools. Our research suggests that regular usage doesn't necessarily mean the user experience is frictionless."
"Respondents consistently highlighted search, findability and confidence as areas where improvements could make a meaningful difference to their day-to-day work. While this survey reflects the views of a relatively small group of users, it raises an important question for organisations: should digital workplace success be measured solely by adoption, or by how effectively employees can find, trust and use information?"
While the survey is not intended to represent all SharePoint users, Adepteq believes the findings offer a useful benchmark for organisations reviewing the effectiveness of their digital workplace environments.
As businesses continue to invest in collaboration platforms, intranets and Microsoft 365 technologies, the research suggests there may be value in looking beyond usage metrics and focusing on employee experience, information discoverability and knowledge management.
The full report explores user perspectives on search, navigation, document management, training and workplace productivity, contributing to ongoing conversations about how organisations can make digital workplaces more effective for employees.
