Want to spend the night at Adams Park in aid of Wycombe Homeless Connection?

Chairboys fans will be overjoyed at news of a unique opportunity to once more stay overnight at Adams Park this November – and to raise money for a worthy local cause at the same time.

Wycombe Homeless Connection is delighted to announce that its annual Big Sleepout will take place at Adams Park this year, thanks to the continuing hospitality of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club. Football bosses and fundraisers at the Castle Street-based charity hope that well over a hundred ‘sleepouters’ will take part in the Big Sleepout, which takes place after the home match against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday 23th November.

Sheena Dykes, WHC Chair of Trustees, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Wycombe Wanderers FC for generously opening their doors to our ‘Big Sleepout’ this year. It will be amazing to once more spend the night at this much-loved local sports venue. Last year was our first sleepout there, and it was such a fun event – even when the stands were cold and very hard to sleep on! We’re planning lots of exciting extra details, so really hope that people will sign up soon to help us raise vital funds to help local homeless people in our town.”

WWFC officials are getting behind the event by throwing in a free match ticket for any participant – surely a great incentive for any diehard Blues fan!

Families with children (over 12) will be welcome to join in. There will also be a Big Quiz and informal supper, as well as special ‘money can’t buy’ prizes for those who raise the most sponsorship. Those who make it to the morning will be rewarded by steaming hot drinks and a welcome breakfast.

More information can be found at www.wyhoc.org.uk. Registration is now open for participants, and places are limited to 150, so readers are encouraged to act fast to secure their Adams Park bed for the night.

Sustain For Life

Charity Sustain For Life aim to better the world by making a direct contribution to improving the lives of some of the poorest people on the planet by helping them to help themselves. Their underlying belief is that people benefit more from the opportunity to develop through their own efforts rather than simply relying on the donation of aid. Therefore, by delivering projects that provide the basic building blocks for a self-sustaining life across health, education and agriculture, Sustain For Life aim to help them become economically and sustainably self-sufficient.

Otec Bikes in Halton, Buckinghamshire are running a charity event supporting Sustain For Life called the Ridgeway 200.

The event takes place on 5-6th October and tackles a 200km circular off-road bike ride through the beautiful Chilterns, split over two days. It’s a fully supported ride and entry includes overnight accommodation and much more! This charity event is all about the experience, Otec take care of everything so you can focus on enjoying the ride.

Join on your own, with a friend or even with your company. Every penny raised will go to Sustain For Life projects (never on charity core costs), directly helping people out of poverty sustainably.
