Help young people to forge their career paths

Two upcoming online events give you the chance to meet students and offer virtual work experience placements and provide careers advice.

The new website for all skills and career-related advice in Buckinghamshire

The new Bucks Skills Hub website is a one-stop shop for all skills and career-related advice in Buckinghamshire.

For businesses, this website is where you can advertise your latest full and part-time job vacancies, as well as any work experience and internship opportunities – all for free. The Bucks Skills Hub works closely with all schools, colleges and universities in Buckinghamshire and can help you engage with the next generation of your team.

The new website is the first of its kind in Buckinghamshire and is designed to inspire, support and inform career seekers, career changers and educators. We are supporting local businesses, people and the economy by making it easy to advertise jobs, whether you are preparing to reopen and #BuildBackBetter, grow and create new jobs or want to help young people into employment.

Offer Virtual Work Experience and Insight Days for students

PREDICT ’21: 21-25 June 2021

This June, Speakers for Schools will launch ‘Predict ‘21: Future Careers’ to shine a light on the opportunities that technology can bring.

Employers that get involved in the event will have the chance to promote Virtual Work Experience Placements and Virtual Insight Days to young people to help introduce young people to the varied ‘tech accelerated’ roles and expose them to employers and careers they may not have considered or knew existed. This applies to young people whether they aspire to work in the tech sector, green industry, law, fashion, art, finance, construction or another field.

The event will feature:

  • Talks from influential speakers, streamed online and available to all students across the UK
  • School talks which will match expert speakers directly with individual schools for bespoke events
  • Opportunities to promote Virtual Insight Days and Virtual Work Experience placements to promote tech accelerated industries

How to get involved:

Strive Festival – get a ‘virtual’ booth at this local employability and careers festival

A message from Buckinghamshire New University

“Buckinghamshire New University’s Students’ Union is bringing back a bigger and better online Strive Festival for 2021 on Monday 10th May.

“Strive is an employability and careers festival designed to meet the progression needs of our members and provide an opportunity for them to meet with organisations from any industry to assist in directing their careers.

“We are inviting you to attend our event (virtually) for students to find out a bit more about your organisation and what it would be like to work for you. For those of you with current vacancies, you will be able to share these and potentially recruit your new employee!

“We are also looking for leaders to host panel events answering any career or industry questions our members may have, and the app also provides networking tables for students to meet you at the event. The networking tables will also allow you to network with other organisations attending.

How can you get involved?

“If you would like to host a free booth at Strive, please get in touch! You will have access to thousands of diverse and talented students at Bucks New University and the booths do not have to be staffed, although live contact is encouraged for the best interaction.

“You can prepare your booth in advance and can include videos, Q&A sessions, vacancies for graduate roles, placement or volunteering opportunities or any information at all to showcase your organisation.

“To reserve your free booth or for more information on our sponsorship opportunities for the event, please email sutraining@bucks.ac.uk. We hope to see you there!”
