Bringing business back to Bucks pays off for Mediplus

Buckinghamshire Business First member Mediplus brought much of its manufacturing back to Buckinghamshire after previously basing this offshore. Emma Gray, owner of Mediplus, a producer of medical devices and equipment, was keen to see the company’s products manufactured a lot closer to home in order to have more control of the process and to ensure greater quality control. This also ensures more peace of mind for Mediplus, in that they will comply with regulations which increasingly expect manufacturers to have more control over the processes carried out by sub-contractors.

Reshoring incurred some costs, but help was at hand via NatWest and Lombard Business Funding who provided half the funding Mediplus required to successfully reshore their operations. Ultimately, this will create 25 new jobs, almost doubling the company’s workforce, while Mediplus will take on the lease of the building next door to its headquarters at Cressex Business Park.

Would you like to know more about how to reshore your operations, or take advantage of others doing so? At an event at the Clare Charity Centre on Thursday 18th September, the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will join forces to bring together their expertise in reshoring to UK-based and international companies.

At this event, both MAS and UKTI will provide a wide range of support, whatever your needs, whether it be reshoring production to the UK, taking advantage of supply chain contracts created by reshoring, or assurances that reshoring will meet the specific needs of your business.
