Difficult Discussions in the Workplace - March 2018

Difficult Discussions in the Workplace - March 2018

A Member to Member Workshop hosted by Michele Fisher from HR in Flow.

The result of this workshop will be to reduce stress in the workplace and save time by addressing difficult discussions with confidence.

The immediate needs of the group on the day will drive the workshop. All the frameworks and skills explored will be applied to your real experience and situations. Examples include:

  • Managing upwards
  • Criticising/feedback upwards
  • Dealing with multi-agendas and ego clashes
  • Personnel issues e.g. grievances - harassment, bullying, inconsistency, victimisation (the ‘not funny’ continued comment, nickname etc) perception of unfairness (e.g. promotions outcomes etc.)
  • Sickness and absence
  • Having the great idea and positioning it so you will be heard
  • Disciplinary
  • Performance issues, complaints, mistakes, behaviour issues
  • Home based relational issues

Who is this event aimed at?

Anyone who has to hold difficult discussions including business leaders, managers, supervisors, parents and more.

How will members benefit from attending?

You will leave with increased confidence, the ability to identify causal issues rather than the superficial and obvious moments of concern, be armed with ways of clarifying, explaining, exploring, and inquiring that enable a worthy discussion for both parties. Remove the fear of difficult discussions and conversations.

What knowledge will members take away with them?

You will leave with the knowledge and applied awareness of why conversations and discussions are difficult, what to do, the impact of difference, when and how to manage them.

We will explore frameworks, tools and approaches that will guide and help. We will explore essential transactional analysis, situational complexity and easily applied communication techniques.

The responsibility for learning and for then taking the learning back into the workplace and beyond rests with you.
