Attend a National Emergency Briefing on the climate crisis

The National Emergency Briefing is the result of leading experts and concerned citizens joining forces to encourage UK decision-makers to step up their response to the escalating climate and nature crisis.

At the heart of it is a film that sets out the risks facing the nation - and the credible, positive responses available - in a clear and accessible account designed for screenings in communities across the UK.

The climate emergency briefing

On 27th November 2025, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of more than 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media in Westminster.

The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy, and did so on the public record. Its purpose was to demonstrate what a clear, evidence-led national emergency briefing could look like and why it is needed. The question that follows is how this evidence is communicated to the public and translated into appropriate national action.

About the film

The 50-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces - designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency action.

A wide range of groups and organisations are staging screenings of the film in local communities, sharing the message that has already been seen by the invited audience in Westminster last year.

Post-film conversation

Each screening is intended to be followed by a structured discussion to allow people to process what they have heard and find ways to engage positively around solutions in their local community.

By enabling communities and decision-makers to engage with the same evidence together, the screening programme aims to create informed dialogue at local and national level.
