Bucks New University named as finalist in Times’ Awards

Buckinghamshire New University has been named as a finalist for its estates team and for digital innovation in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2016.

The University has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Estates Team category for its projects in the 2014/5 academic year which include the new multi-million pound Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre. The centre provides world class facilities and puts students at the forefront of knowledge and practice as they learn to use leading edge research tools for sport, exercise and therapy.

The University is also a finalist in the Outstanding Digital Innovation in Management and Administration category which recognises the innovative use of digital technology to deliver efficiencies and enhance productivity. The shortlisted project provided teaching staff with technology to improve the turnaround time and quality of feedback to students after the submission of assignments.

Professor Rebecca Bunting, Vice-Chancellor at Bucks New University said: “I’m pleased to see recognition for the achievements of those teams who work hard to support our staff and enhance the student experience at Bucks. The University recently won the Teaching Excellence category at the Guardian University Awards and this success is rightly shared by both our academic and support staff.”

The winners of the Times Higher Education Learning and Management Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on 23 June.

Anniversary wishes to Universal Care and Holy Cow Home

Universal Care recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of providing premier quality home care in Beaconsfield and the surrounding areas by hosting a working lunch with the help of Heart of Bucks and BP Collins. The event was also designed for those in attendance to discover the impact of CSR on businesses, with Gina Connell of BP Collins sharing how they have reached their CSR objectives by supporting local charities and how this has affected staff.

Holy Cow Home recently celebrated its first birthday. From humble beginnings, Holy Cow Home has, since its launch, flourished and developed into Aylesbury’s choice lifestyle furnishings boutique. The team celebrated with celebratory drinks and nibbles at their base in Aylesbury.

Danielson’s name change to SCHURTER Electronics Ltd

Leading electronic component and interface manufacturer Danielson (UK) Ltd has been fully integrated into the SCHURTER Group following its recent name change.

Danielson (UK) Ltd, based in Aylesbury, will now be known as SCHURTER Electronics Ltd.

In May 2014 Danielson (UK) Ltd was acquired by SCHURTER Holding AG, a world-renowned Swiss corporation in the provision of electronic components and interfaces. The company was established in Aylesbury in 1983 and now boasts a 40-strong workforce and turnover of £3.5 million per annum.

It scooped two awards in the Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2015 - Manufacturer of the Year and Best in District – Aylesbury Vale. The awards showcase the entrepreneurial spirit of the county’s top businesses.

Under the Danielson name the company became pre-eminent in Europe for Human Machine Interface (HMI) front panel integration and Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen solutions, with more than 75 years’ experience.

Andy Stevens, Commercial Manager of the SCHURTER Electronics, says the company will go from strength to strength as part of the SCHURTER Group:
