Grand opening of tutorial school in Stone which will drive education standards up

A new tutorial school is to open just outside of Aylesbury. It provides tuition for children 6 – 18 years old and is an exam centre for adults who missed out on GCSE and A-level qualifications.

Located in Stone, the school is run by qualified head-teacher Michael Garnett, with a fully qualified group of teachers supporting him.  The school offers individual tuition within small groups of 4 in a bespoke centre boasting brand new classrooms.

Maple is one of the few exam centres in Buckinghamshire that offers  a  vital community service for pupils and adults who missed out on GCSEs and A Level qualifications. The service is open to all - whether studying privately, in school or home-schooled.

Exams administrator, Tracy Pike, explains; “There are many people who have lost their jobs and wish to re-train as teachers, nurses or join the civil service but are blocked by not having GSCE Maths, Science or English.”

Maple Education are also launching a new adult learning programme in areas such as the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course, something more and more businesses in the relevant sectors are requiring their employees to have completed.

In a drive to encourage more people from disadvantaged backgrounds into higher education, the company also grants three scholarships to children below Year 6 and one child at CSE level hoping to get into Sixth Form.

You are welcome to the grand opening of the new centre is on Saturday 1st December, from 12.30 to 4.00 pm.  They’ll be cake and an opportunity for parents to try an 11 plus paper – not so easy!
