Harvest fun for food and wine lovers

The award winning Daws Hill Vineyard, one of the best kept secrets in Buckinghamshire is launching its 2009 Sparkling White and 2010 Sparkling Rosé vintages on 15 September between 11am and 4pm at a special event to be held at The Crown at Radnage.

The Daws Hill Vineyard Launch Picnic and Wine Tasting will offer visitors the opportunity to try the new Daws Hill wines while enjoying music and a picnic in the picturesque setting in the heart of the Chiltern Hills. Other local producers will be showcasing their wines and cheeses as well.

English wine is becoming increasingly popular so this event will give wine lovers the chance to come and try locally produced wines and spend the day with family and friends in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Daws Hill Vineyard produces between 5,000 and 10,000 bottles of wine a year, most made using the traditional ‘champagne’ method. This is simpler than it might seem, as research has shown that local soil and weather are surprisingly similar to that of the continental Champagne region.

‘We are passionate about wine and about being a local producer,” says Nigel Morgan of Daws Hill Vineyard, “so we want as many people as possible to come along and try the wines and we hope to find some new fans among them. Visitors can enjoy a picnic, either pre-ordered from The Crown at Radnage, or they are free to bring their own, and there will be a band playing on the day. This looks set to be a great event and a fitting end to a great summer’.
