Sponsor Spotlight on: Moogies Pubs

The Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2025 would not be possible without the support of our amazing sponsors, which is why we are showcasing each sponsor in the lead-up to the Awards Ceremony on October 15th.

The Sponsor in the Spotlight today is Moogies Pubs, sponsors of the Net Zero Ambition Business of the Year Award.

Here's what they had to say about sponsoring the awards, their values as a business, and their first-hand knowledge of what winning a Buckinghamshire Business Award feels like!

Sponsor in the Spotlight: Moogies Pubs

Moogies Pubs is an independent hospitality business operating two pub restaurants located in the Buckinghamshire countryside: The Black Boy in the village of Oving, and The Dinton Hermit in Ford, which also offers characterful accommodation and professional meeting rooms.

At both locations, our aim is simple — to provide a warm welcome, delicious freshly prepared food, a well-stocked bar, and exceptional service for all who walk through our doors. For our overnight guests at The Dinton Hermit, we aim to create a memorable, comfortable stay that reflects our care and attention to detail.

Moogies Being Mindful

In July 2021, as we reopened our venues after the disruption of the Covid-19 lockdowns, we made a conscious decision to go further. We recognised that our responsibilities extend beyond our guests - to our team, our community, and the environment. That’s when we began our Net Zero journey with the launch of our Being Mindful pledge.

Being Mindful is our commitment to embedding sustainability into the heart of our operations. It is structured around seven pillars that guide our day-to-day practices and long-term decisions:

  • Improving Our Recycling
  • Reducing Waste
  • Caring For The Environment
  • Supporting Our People
  • Reviewing Our Suppliers
  • Supporting Our Community
  • Promoting Health & Wellbeing

Each of these areas is interconnected, forming a holistic approach to sustainability. Whether it’s reducing food waste in our kitchens, switching to eco-friendly packaging, partnering with local producers, or supporting the wellbeing of our staff, we aim to make thoughtful, informed choices every step of the way.

Our sustainability efforts are driven by a core commitment: "To operate as sustainably as possible, always keeping the welfare of our staff, our community and the wider environment at the forefront of everything we do."

Award-winning credentials

We were incredibly proud to receive the Buckinghamshire Business Award for Net Zero Ambition Business of the Year in 2023. Winning that award validated the hard work and passion our team has invested in transforming the way we run our business. It also inspired us to continue raising the bar - not just for ourselves, but for our industry peers.

This year, we are honoured to return to the Buckinghamshire Business Awards as a sponsor and judge for the same category. It’s a privilege to support and celebrate the sustainability journeys of other local organisations. Judging the entries is really interesting and a great way to learn what other local businesses are doing to tackle sustainability.

Collaboration key to sustainability

We’re also proud to share our experiences and learnings with others, something we’ve been fortunate to do in partnership with Buckinghamshire Business First over the past couple of years. Collaboration is essential if we are to create a truly sustainable future, and we’re always happy to play our part.

At Moogies, we believe that great hospitality and sustainability go hand in hand - and we’re excited to see what more we can achieve in the years ahead.
