Buckinghamshire Local Skills Improvement Plan – Training Provider Meeting

Buckinghamshire Local Skills Improvement Plan – Training Provider Meeting

A meeting to agree Emerging Skills Priorities and Solutions.

Calling all Bucks-based Training Provider businesses

We are inviting representatives from the Training Provider Sector of in Buckinghamshire to join us for the next stage of consultation on the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for the county. We are specifically interested in hearing from training providers of post-16 technical education and training.

Training Providers have been designated a key sector for Buckinghamshire and following the initial consultation event in January 2023, this meeting will bring together employers and training providers to agree on skills priorities for the Provider Sector and explore the solutions with education and training providers.

The meeting will be at Westcott Venture Park, home of Buckinghamshire's space sector and most innovative emerging technologies.

Why it Matters

Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) has been appointed by the Department for Education to be the designated Employer Representative Body (ERB) for Buckinghamshire and to develop the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP). This is a major government initiative intended to reshape post-16 education and training across England. LSIPs are part of the government’s approach to reshaping the technical skills system in England.  They set out key priorities and changes needed to post-16 technical education and training in order that it can be more responsive local labour market needs. This provides an opportunity for Training Provider businesses to make it easier to recruit skilled employees and upskill their existing employees.

BBF will be submitting the priorities to the Department for Education at the end of March 2023 and then potential solutions and changes required by the end of May 2023.

How the meeting will work

The event will be an opportunity for Training Provider businesses to feedback on the initial findings of a series of bilateral meetings and ensure that the priorities are correct and representative. Attendees will also brainstorm and debate possible solutions to address some of the key issues.

Please note: All members of the Training Provider sector group network are required to be at decision-maker level of a Buckinghamshire-based organisation within the Training Provider sector.
