Focus on your Business Planning

Focus on your Business Planning

Find out how to use the Business Model Canvas (BMC) in your business planning and clearly see what you want to do, and how you can go about achieving it.

Discover how the visual format of BMC can be used to give you a thorough understanding of your business and how you can further develop your ideas to maximise the opportunities that may be on your business horizon.

During the course of this workshop we will use real life examples of companies to explore areas of interest and develop your own unique perspective on your business.

This interactive workshop will enable you to learn how other business people in the room tackle each of these discreet areas of business. The workshop is open to all levels of management within your business and is especially useful for tackling the following business challenges:

  • introducing your business to new staff members
  • attracting inward investment
  • proposing changes to existing business structure
  • developing a new business idea

Business Model Canvas:

We will use the Business Model Canvas (BMC) during the workshop. The BMC is a one-page overview that lays out both what you do (or want to do), and how you go about doing it; enabling structured conversations around management and strategy by laying out the crucial activities and challenges involved with your initiative and how they relate to each other.

Many describe the BMC as being the crucial point between the fag packet business description and fully blown business plan.

This visual format, first introduced by Oesterwalder and Pigneur, is useful for both existing and new organisations and businesses:

  • Existing businesses can develop new initiatives and identify opportunities while becoming more efficient by illustrating potential trade-offs and aligning activities.
  • New businesses can use it to plan and work out how to make their offering real.

The individual elements prompt thoughts within the separate activities or resources, while the capability to have the complete overview encourages fresh perspectives and ideas about how those pieces fit together. This structure also helps to keep group discussions more focused and bring everyone onto the same page.

By the end of the session you should have a thorough understanding of your business and will have prompts enabling you to further develop your ideas to maximise the opportunities on your business horizon.
