Talent & Skills for the Industries of the Future

Talent & Skills for the Industries of the Future

The skillset of your employees is key to the success of your business.

However, the skills required and the availability of skilled personnel is constantly changing with advances in technology and changes in free movement on the horizon. So, how can your engineering business secure and retain the talent and skills required to ensure the future of your business?

The programme is as follows:

Rupert Waters, Head of Economic Research at Buckinghamshire Business First, who will be speaking about the current and future skills situation in Buckinghamshire, highlighting any existing skills gaps in the Bucks/local area, how this might change in the future, and the need for Buckinghamshire to become better at retaining the required talent.

Paul Avins, Managing Director / Business Growth Coach, Oxonetix.com, will be discussing the difference between technical and management skills and how to overcome conflict between the different team members you work with. He will also help you identify ways to develop technical skills for management roles.

Mark Eighteen, Commercial Director, Activate Learning, will be sharing his experience of how the Apprenticeship levy (which came into effect in April 2017) works and how different employers are approaching it.

Jackie Campbell, Skills Development Manager, Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, will be sharing her experience of the benefits of creating a relationship with schools with examples of good and bad practices.
