SEND Coach

We are looking for SEND Coaches to join Buckinghamshire College Group, based at our Aylesbury and Wycombe Campuses.

Responsibilities

Are you inspirational, motivated and passionate about empowering young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to thrive as they transition into adulthood and reach their full potential. Then this could be the role for you, we are looking for SEND Coaches to join Buckinghamshire College Group, based at our Aylesbury and Wycombe Campuses. This is a permanent role, 37 hours a week / 38 weeks a year (term time only).

As a SEND Coach, you will play a pivotal role in preparing our young people for adulthood. Your enthusiasm, dedication, and motivation will be instrumental in shaping their futures. You will lead small groups of young people with SEND on outings within the community. Whether it's exploring local parks, visiting museums, or participating in social activities, you will create meaningful experiences. 

You will empower young people by teaching essential life skills such as communication, budgeting, time management, travel training and self-advocacy.

Person Specification

Essential:

Formal Qualification

  • Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Level L2 qualification in Autism.
  • Level 3 qualification in Autism or willingness again within the first year of employment

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of strategies and resources used in SEND support
  • Working knowledge of Post 16 education
  • An understanding of, and demonstrable commitment to, Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults
  • A good understanding of EHCP
  • A good understanding of the SEND code of Practice

Experience

  • Sound experience of working in SEND Support
  • Work experience in a educational setting

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Good administrative skills
  • Competency in ICT
  • Ability to promote and deliver outstanding customer service
