We are looking for full time Site Maintenance and Safety Officer to join Buckinghamshire College Group, based at all Campuses

Responsibilities

Are you looking for a new role in maintenance and safety? We are looking for full time Site Maintenance and Safety Officer to join Buckinghamshire College Group, based at our Aylesbury, Amersham or Wycombe Campuses. Working 37hrs per week on a shift and call out rota / 52 weeks per year.  

If you are a motivated individual with a passion for maintaining a safe, functional and student focused space for learning, as well as responding to security issues, we want to hear from you!

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks across the college facilities.
  • Perform repairs and address technical issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to maintain a safe and efficient environment
  • Adhere to the assigned shift pattern and participate in the on-call rota
  • Respond to and address security issues
  • Will be required to provide cover at our other campuses on some occasions
  • Attend and undertake mandatory training when required

Person Specification

Essential:

Formal Qualification

  • Painting and Decorating, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry or other Built Environment or Construction qualification or willing to work towards.
  • SIA Licence – for Security work or willing to work towards

Knowledge

  • A working knowledge of current building maintenance practice.
  • Understanding of safe working practices and health and safety legislation
  • An understanding of, and demonstrable commitment to, Safeguarding Children and Young People (Every Child Matters) and Vulnerable Adults

Experience

  • Experience of providing a secure environment and excellent customer service.
  • General building maintenance.
  • Experience of caretaking
  • Experience of using a switchboard

Skills

  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent practical DIY skills including painting with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations.
  • Ability to learn new and develop existing skills.
  • Resourceful.
  • Able to work in a College environment liaising as necessary with students and all levels of staff.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office and other computer packages
