Innovate UK Smart grants

Organisations can apply for a share of up to £15m for game-changing and commercially viable R&D innovations that can significantly impact the UK economy. This funding is from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation.

AI solutions to develop AI competencies in key sectors

Apply for a share of up to £2 million for Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to support AI upskilling and developing responsible and ethical AI personalised learning solutions in the key sectors of construction, transport and logistics, creative industries, and agriculture and food processing. This funding is from Innovate UK.

Innovation loans from Innovate UK

Innovate UK is offering up to £25 million in loans to micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Innovate UK innovation loans are for highly innovative late stage research and development (R&D) projects with the best potential for the future. Businesses can apply for loans for innovative projects with strong commercial potential to significantly improve the UK economy.

Life Sciences Innovative Manufacturing Fund

This capital grants fund aims to build resilience for future health emergencies and capitalise on the UK’s world-leading R&D capabilities by investing in projects that help increase UK health resilience, such as the manufacture of human medicines and medical technology (including diagnostics, and MedTech products). This is a new fund from previous UK Government Life Sciences manufacturing funds.

Applications will undergo assessment in quarterly rounds until all the funding has been allocated:

  • Round 1 closes on 29th November 2024
  • Round 2 opens on 1st February 2025 and closes on 28th February 2025
  • Round 3 opens on 1st May 2025 and closes on 30th May 2025
  • Round 4 opens on 1st August 2025 and closes on 29th August 2025

Civil aerospace sector funding

The ATI Programme funds industrial research and investment aid for research infrastructures to make the UK civil aerospace sector more competitive. 

It's coordinated and managed by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI).

Quantum Missions pilot: Quantum Computing and Quantum Networks

Innovate UK will invest up to £9.5 million for Quantum Computing (QC) and Quantum Networks (QN) projects, with the aim of accelerating the QC and QN technologies by increasing their capabilities and removing technological barriers to their commercialisation and adoption.

UK-registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £3 million for collaboration with Canadian SMEs on joint R&D projects.

Apply for a share of up to £2 million to enhance UK and German collaborations in emerging fields of technology. You must collaborate with at least one German SME applying under the equivalent German ZIM programme.
