Buckinghamshire Business First announces the appointment of Michael Garvey as Chairman with effect from March 14th 2018. He succeeds Alex Pratt OBE who, after seven successful years as Chairman, has stepped down to focus on his business and family commitments.
Michael Garvey was a founder investor of Buckinghamshire Business First and has been Vice Chair and independent non-executive director since 2011.
Alex Pratt, Founder of Serious Brands Ltd, said: “It was the entrepreneurial spirit of the business community that created Buckinghamshire Business First, when 10 local businesses stepped forward to start a movement of businesses. We have grown to a community approaching 11,000 members representing almost 70% of the employed workforce in the county. In the last five years, Buckinghamshire Business First has directly worked with 43,000 businesses, helped create 1,500 jobs and awarded £9.5million in grant funding directly to businesses at the coalface. Michael has been instrumental in this success as Vice Chair and I am delighted to now hand over the reins for him to implement the next phase of Buckinghamshire Business First’s strategic vision.”

Michael Garvey profile
Michael is Managing Director of Chandler Garvey, a regional firm of commercial property consultants with offices in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Amersham, Marlow and Slough. He has 30 years of commercial property experience in the Greater Thames Valley region. He is a Chartered Surveyor, an Arbitrator and an RICS Registered Valuer.
Michael was born in High Wycombe and has lived in Buckinghamshire all his life. As a local resident and businessman, he is passionate about the success of the county.
As well as being Chairman of Buckinghamshire Business First, Michael is on the Board of the Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, on the Board of Buckinghamshire Advantage, Joint Chair of the Connected Counties Broadband Delivery Board, a Member of the Buckinghamshire Transport Board, and Chair of the Digital Infrastructure Group.
