Empowering employers with the Careers and Enterprise Company’s new standards

The Careers and Enterprise Company has introduced a robust framework of nine standards designed to help employers evaluate and improve their careers education outreach. This initiative aims to inspire young people and prepare them for successful careers.

What is it?

The framework provides a simple yet effective way for employers to ask the right questions, assess impact, and enhance performance. It includes an online self-assessment tool that allows employers to:

  • Assess their current activities
  • Benchmark against sector and national averages
  • Track progress over time
  • Improve their outreach efforts

What will you get?

Employers receive a comprehensive report with results and recommendations, an evidence pack for each standard, case studies, and curated resources to improve the quality of their careers education outreach.

Key Standards:

  1. Inspire Young People: Provide meaningful opportunities and raise awareness of career pathways.
  2. Evaluate and Improve: Continuously assess and enhance outreach activities.
  3. Be Inclusive: Ensure diversity and inclusivity in the workforce.
  4. Prepare for Careers: Equip young people with essential skills and prepare them for application processes.

Who’s using the tool?

As of 5th June 2024, 612 employers had utilised the self-assessment tool, with a significant number planning to improve based on their findings. The tool has been particularly popular in sectors such as professional, scientific, and technical services, manufacturing, and construction.

What’s new?

The Employer Standards Dashboard offers instant access to results, comparisons, and recommendations. Upcoming features include improved user experience for repeat assessments and new resources to support employers in preparing young people for application processes.
