There’s plenty going on in Aylesbury at the moment and in the near future. So much so that we thought we’d dedicate an article to telling you about all the goings on.
David Lidington visits our Porters Lodge hub and the Stocklake Link Road project
The Rt Hon David Lidington MP, Member of Parliament for Aylesbury and Minister for Europe, had a busy day on Monday 14 March as he stopped in to see the tenants at our new business hub in Aylesbury right off the back of visiting the site of the Stocklake Link Road project.
The MP visited the £5.3 million Stocklake Link Road Highway Improvement Scheme funded by Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership. The project is set to not only ease congestion, but improve the environment for the local community and also enable growth to the east of Aylesbury.
David then came to see our Aylesbury business hub at Porters Lodge to meet some of the tenants who have occupied the office space and hear how they are benefiting from the fantastic new facility right in the heart of the Aylesbury. As well as office space, the hub has free meeting rooms, hot-desking and Wi-Fi for any business needing a meeting place or some head-space, so if you’re in need of somewhere to do business in Aylesbury, make it Porters Lodge!
The Rt Hon David Lidington, Member of Parliament for Aylesbury and Minister for Europe, said: “I was delighted to witness first-hand the exciting work being progressed by Buckinghamshire Thames Valley LEP to improve the transport infrastructure in Aylesbury and Buckinghamshire Business First in supporting local businesses to flourish.
“The development of local road infrastructure is essential for Aylesbury’s growth and the Stocklake Link Road scheme is a key element to smooth traffic flow in the town area and also to link into new road networks such as the Eastern Link road. In addition, it is great news we have a new business hub in the heart of Aylesbury to support local business and help them thrive, I hope this model will be expanded further across the county.”
David added: “I was impressed by the real sense of common purpose between Buckinghamshire Thames Valley LEP and Buckinghamshire Business First to co-ordinate enterprises to improve the lives of people and businesses in Buckinghamshire.”
Philippa Batting, Managing Director of Buckinghamshire Business First, said: “It was a great pleasure to show our local MP around our fantastic new business hub and to introduce some of the businesses benefiting from this new facility. Already the hub is proving a great success running at full capacity and there are plans to expand the model across other sites in Buckinghamshire.”

Sponsor in the Spotlight: Aylesbury Vale District Council
The latest Buckinghamshire Business Award sponsor to have a light shone upon them is Aylesbury Vale District Council, sponsors of the Best in Aylesbury Vale District Award, won last year by Danielson UK.
Cllr Steve Bowles had this to say about the Council’s involvement: “I am delighted that Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) is sponsoring an award at the Buckinghamshire Business Awards and I am personally pleased to be involved. The awards are a showcase not only for up and coming businesses but also for those established businesses in the Vale and Buckinghamshire.
“As cabinet member for Economic Development at AVDC I encourage any initiative which promotes the Vale and Buckinghamshire as a place to do business.”
The Buckinghamshire Business Awards will take place at the Old Town Hall in High Wycombe on Thursday 16 June. Thanks to its greater capacity the 2016 event is set to be even bigger and better than previous years!
