MEPC's new agile work space at Silverstone Park is a big hit!

Businesses and guests can now take advantage of a colourful new work space designed to provide an attractive place to work, rest and play.

Businesses have immediately warmed to Silverstone Park’s contemporary new agile work space ‘The WRaP’ after sampling it for the first time, with one likening it to the environment provided for visitors by social media giant Facebook.

The ‘WRaP’ title reflects the space’s comfortable design which allows the business community – including the Park’s occupiers and their customers – to ‘work, rest and play’.

Meanwhile, having experienced the space at a recent launch event, here’s what some business people have had to say:

  • “It is very Facebook-esque. It’s light, it’s vibrant, it’s got modern technolog, there’s comfortable seating and the facility is very clean and very welcoming. This is going to appeal to many businesses; it’s a premier location for meetings and gives you all the connectivity you need to catch-up on emails and calls.” - Jules White, The Last Hurdle
  • “It’s really good to see a business estate establishing more flexible ways of working for the companies it represents; it opens up the door for more people to drop in and network. Working in a homely environment is the modern way. It means you could set up several meetings all in one day here and feel relaxed in between.” - Mike Christensen, Stitcht
  • “It’s a fantastic work space with a really nice, relaxing vibe. You’ve got power for PC and mobile devices with very good Wi-Fi connection. That’s exactly what you’d expect of a modern science park. It’s also going to be a very welcoming space for people visiting businesses based here.” - Sian Gannon, Tomorrow’s Journey
  • “Some places can be uncomfortable and feel restrictive. This is the exact opposite and is a fantastic environment for businesses – a welcoming space that people can really utilise. It’s a great idea and I can see myself using it on many occasions.” - Kevin Morris, KPM

MEPC’s Roz Bird, Commercial Director at Silverstone Park, explains: “This newly designed space reflects the personality of our community: a relaxed and modern environment with aspects of a stylish home but also plenty of utilities and creature comforts such as clean work benches and tea and coffee-making facilities."

“We’ve named it WRaP, standing for ‘Work Rest and Play’, because we are offering a space that can offer these three options:

  • Work – because it’s a convenient space between meetings, a perfect location to work day-to-day on an ad hoc basis, with space to make private calls and a comfy sofa area which can be used to give informal presentations.
  • Rest – because we have created an area where the lights can be dimmed and you can sit by a log fire! This can be somewhere to catch up with your reading or your own thoughts. There’s also seating by the windows so people can bring their lunch, look out at the view and have a well-deserved break from the desk.
  • Play – we’re planning regular gatherings with free beer, wine and other refreshments where people can chat with friends from work and try their skills on the PlayStation™ games.”

MEPC is also planning to introduce a pop-up space for the business community to get creative, with ideas proposed so far ranging from books and food to ‘Wattbikes’ for high intensity interval training (HIIT).

Included in the work space:

  • Relaxing sofa/lounge waiting area with the ability to be used to give presentations
  • Acoustic swivel booth for private phone calls
  • 8-place kitchen-style work desk with PC and mobile device (USB) power points
  • Courtesy high-speed Wi-Fi connection
  • Games console (PlayStation™)
  • 3 bistro tables
  • Live TV news feed
  • Complimentary light refreshments (tea/coffee)

Roz said: “We live and breathe our customers and upgrading our Innovation Centre to meet contemporary working trends with this work space is based a lot on what they’ve had to say."
