Are you ready for General Data Protection Regulation? – Phil Stratton, SecureDesk Limited

GDPR is the new EU General Data Protection Regulation and is the most significant shake-up in data privacy and data security regulation in 20 years. It will supersede the current "Data Protection Act" across the whole of Europe from May 25th 2018.

Every organisation in the UK will need to change the way that they operate to be compliant with this new GDPR legislation and will have to do so by May 25th 2018. To do nothing, will risk fines from the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) of up to 20 million Euros or 4% of your last year’s global revenue (whichever is higher), and the potential of your business reputation being left in tatters.

This workshop will cover what GDPR is, how it will affect your business, and what you need to do to get your business ready.

Run your own member to member workshops

If you would like to impart your wisdom to local businesses and potentially pick up more clients, then host your own member to member workshops.

Partner members of Buckinghamshire Business First can host up to four workshops per year. Becoming a Partner member requires an investment of £500, which could be recouped at the first workshop, as Helen Pethybridge of ActionCOACH found when she hosted her own member to member workshop.

“The chance to speak directly to a group of people that you already know have an interest in what you offer and want to know more is a chance not to pass up," says Helen. “Hosting my first workshop led to me to building a strong reputation for creating a highly interactive learning experience for local business owners. It’s fair to say that hosting these workshops is now a key part of my marketing strategy.”

Helen found new business as a result of hosting her workshop, and says: "Taking on this one client gave me a quick return on my investment in Buckinghamshire Business First."

Buckinghamshire Business First will take care of the bookings for the event, and will provide a room for up to 10 people, a flipchart and projector, and tea and coffee for delegates free of charge. Your workshop will also be promoted via the Buckinghamshire Business First events newsletter and on social media channels.
