Need help with exporting?

Exporting is a proven route to business growth, and can help businesses minimise seasonal fluctuations, extend product lifecycles, and lots more. With our experienced advisers and connections to the government's Business Growth Service, Buckinghamshire Business First can help connect you with the world.

The recent launch of the government’s Business Growth Service has increased the strength and reach of Buckinghamshire Business First’s support, including when it comes to the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), with whom we regularly work in partnership on events like Exporting Power Hours.

The new service is part of the government's plan for small businesses - and it has Growth Hubs like Buckinghamshire Business First right at its heart. As the Growth Hub for Buckinghamshire, delivering joined-up support for businesses is part of our mission statement. As an integral part of one of the government's flagship business support policies, it means that businesses that get more involved with Buckinghamshire Business First can expect to get even more back from the support we offer.

Through our knowledge, experience and connections, we can help connect you with the world. Book in a chat with our Business Advisers to get started.

What exporting can do for your business

  • Help you get a slice of the £920 billion UK export market. Join others in cashing in on the British brand around the world.
  • Help grow your business. Exporting is a proven route to business growth. Economic research consistently shows companies who export to any country, in any financial climate, perform better than those who don’t.
  • Increase your profits. Overseas clients are more likely to buy in bulk, potentially saving you on shipping costs and increasing the value of your orders.
  • Reduce risk. Some see it as hazardous to be tied in to just one market place, so opening your business up to more markets is a way of ensuring that slow sales in one market doesn't have a disastrous impact on the business as a whole.
  • Minimise seasonal fluctuations. This depends on what you make or sell, but certain foods, flowers and products are only available or sought after at certain points of the year. But when our winter is someone else’s summer, you can still ensure year-round sales.
  • Extend a product’s life-cycle. What’s old in one country can still be brand new in another, as yet, untapped market.
  • Improve efficiency and product quality. Competing with companies all over the world can help you fine-tune your products and services.

  • exporting to new markets
  • paperwork you need to sell your goods abroad
  • rules for a specific country where you want to sell services

If you have a question about trading with Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Israel, Palestine or in the Red Sea region, you will find dedicated forms for these.

From Buckinghamshire to the world

Buckinghamshire has real pedigree when it comes exporting, with numerous businesses winning King's Awards for International Trade, including Lund Halsey Console Systems and Navsa International, both winners in 2025 (Lund Halsey also won in 2016). They followed in the footsteps of other King's Awards winners for International Trade, including Brand Factory, Cableflow International, G&L Healthcare Advisors, Hansford Sensors, and Red Fox ID - all winners in 2024!

Then add in Melford Technologies (2021), Global Infusion Group (2014 & 2017), Symply Pet Foods (2017), Mediplus (2013), Stateside Skates (2016),  Focusrite Audio Engineering (2016), Litre Meter (2016), and Curo Consulting (2015) - all International Trade winners for the predecessor Queen's Awards.
