Philippa Batting awarded an MBE by His Majesty The King

Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) is delighted to announce that Philippa Batting, Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Business First, has been appointed by His Majesty The King as an Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).

This distinguished honour is awarded in recognition of her services to business and her longstanding commitment to strengthening the economic prosperity of Buckinghamshire and supporting its business community.

The MBE recognises Philippa’s leadership in championing small and medium sized enterprises, fostering collaboration across the public and private sectors, and driving inclusive economic growth across the region. Under her stewardship, Buckinghamshire Business First has grown into a nationally recognised Growth Hub, supporting thousands of businesses each year through advice, funding, training, and opportunities to innovate and scale.

Speaking about the honour, Philippa Batting said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition. The work we do at Buckinghamshire Business First is only possible because of the incredible businesses, partners and colleagues who make our county such a vibrant and entrepreneurial place. This honour belongs to the whole BBF community — our team, our board, our partners, and the thousands of businesses who place their trust in us. I remain firmly committed to serving them and helping our region continue to thrive.”

Chair of Buckinghamshire Business First, Michael Garvey MBE added: “This honour is a testament to Philippa’s exceptional leadership, her unwavering commitment to the business community, and her ability to unite people behind a shared purpose. She has dedicated her career to ensuring Buckinghamshire businesses have the support, voice and opportunities they need to succeed. At a time when the business community faces sustained economic pressure, skills shortages, regulatory complexity and wider uncertainty, the work that Philippa and the team at BBF undertake has never been more important in providing stability, advocacy and practical support to businesses across the county.”

Buckinghamshire Business First plays a central role in supporting the county’s 30,000 businesses, driving innovation, nurturing talent, and attracting investment. Philippa Batting’s leadership has been instrumental in bringing partners together, securing national recognition for the area’s strengths, and ensuring business support remains responsive, accessible, and impactful.

The honorary MBE will be formally presented to Philippa Batting at an investiture ceremony later this year.
