TEEG Digital launches social media apprenticeships

The Entrepreneurial Education Group (TEEG) is launching a social media apprenticeship to address the digital skills gap affecting companies.

The TEEG Digital Apprenticeship Programme will help businesses to employ an apprentice who will be trained by experts throughout their employment to ensure that their social media skills are developed and refined. TEEG trainers will also consult with employers to determine their individual marketing strategy in order to give the apprentice a blueprint from which to work and ensure that social media activity reaches the right people to benefit their business.

The social media apprenticeships are being launched in partnership with Aylesbury College, Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Exam Board (OCR), Hootsuite and Tech City UK’s Digital Business Academy.

Carly Ward, CEO & Co Founder of TEEG explains: “In today’s world, social media is becoming increasingly important and while businesses realise how vital it is, they don’t often have the skills or capacity to develop a consistent social media strategy. Young people on the other hand understand the power of digital and are social media savvy, but they lack the knowledge to be able to apply their skills to the world of work and this is where our new social media apprenticeship comes in.’

Working in partnership with industry giants Hootsuite and Tech City UK’s Digital Business Academy, TEEG Digital Apprentices will be supported as they work towards work based, nationally recognised qualifications. The qualifications are awarded by OCR, the UK’s leading exam board.

Carly continues: “The apprenticeship programme offers businesses an affordable way to employ a young person who can significantly benefit their business profile and perhaps more importantly, give a young person the first step on the career ladder and a chance to be a valuable member of their team.”

Spaces are limited. Training for apprentices aged 16-18 is fully funded. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage, although most employers pay approximately £150 per week. Grants for employers are also available.
