Wycombe Wanderers and Buckinghamshire New University score new three-year partnership

Wycombe Wanderers Football Club and Buckinghamshire New University have reignited their long-standing alliance with a new three-year partnership that will offer students wide-ranging educational benefits and strengthen collaboration on civic engagement initiatives in the local community.

Buckinghamshire New University becomes the Official Higher Education Partner of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, having previously sponsored the front of the team's shirt and home terrace at the Chairboys’ Adams Park stadium.

The university will be given exclusive opportunities for its students to undertake work placements with the club, and will benefit from match sponsorship and advertising packages around the stadium, as well as use of meeting spaces and access to Wanderers’ staff and players for educational purposes.

The partnership kicked off with the university’s sponsorship of the recent family day fixture against Morecambe at Adams Park, and will lead to more pathways into the football industry for its students, some of whom already engage with the football club in the sports therapy department at the Marlow Road training base, with casual employment opportunities also available for students in the stewarding and food and beverage teams at Adams Park.

Wanderers will have the opportunity to make use of the first-class Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre at the university’s High Wycombe Campus, and will be engaging with media and graphic design students to enhance the club’s creative output.

Both organisations share a commitment to doing everything they can to support the local community and the new partnership will strengthen their civic engagement efforts on local causes.

Rob Couhig, Chairman of Wycombe Wanderers, said: “I think it’s fantastic that two of the biggest institutions in High Wycombe and its surrounding areas have strengthened their relationship even further, and I know there will be significant mutual benefit for the club, the university and everyone associated with the two.

"We are excited at the opportunity to engage with the students and provide them with the experiences of working alongside our team of first-class professionals to develop their knowledge and understanding of all areas of the football industry.”

Professor Nick Braisby, Vice-Chancellor, Buckinghamshire New University, said: “We’re delighted to formalise our long-standing relationship with Wycombe Wanderers F.C., another beacon of our historic town which has invested so much in the local community since its formation in the late 19th century.

"We pride ourselves on offering our students industry experience so that they are career-ready upon graduation, so I’m excited to see our students from a range of disciplines receive first-hand knowledge from top professionals at a successful club, which has ambitions to keep growing

"As two key organisations in Wycombe, I’m also looking forward to working closely together on civic engagement initiatives and bringing life-changing experiences and opportunities to our local community across the next three years.”
