Aylesbury joins the cyber war with high-tech McAfee centre

Computer security giant McAfee has opened a new high-tech facility in Aylesbury to help stay one step ahead of global cyber threats.

In a double dose of good news, while the threat of cyber attacks should hopefully diminish as a result of the work at the centre, McAfee also employs 230 people in the area.  McAfee have been in Aylesbury since 1994 and this new facility represents their commitment to the town.

From their new base on Gatehouse Road, McAfee will be working with colleagues around the world to deliver over 200 million software updates every day.

The opening was attended by the Minister for universities and science, David Willetts MP, who said the investment “shows Britain is an excellent place to do high-tech business, and will drive growth and deliver highly-skilled jobs.”

While cutting the ribbon, McAfee’s vice-president of UK product development, Paul Gartside, described the company as “incredibly proud to be driving the high-tech industry in Bucks, and thrilled be able to open this new technology centre of excellence in Aylesbury.”
