The Scale-up Institute has published its annual review of UK scale-up businesses for 2025 - and Buckinghamshire is riding high in the top five areas in the country.
Using a definition of a scale-up business that includes businesses that achieved average annualised growth of more than 20% over a three-year period with a minimum of ten employees, the Scale-up Institute Annual Review 2025 has identified Buckinghamshire as a top 5 area for scale-up density, or scale-up businesses per head of population.
In fact, for the number of scale-ups per 100,000 people in the population, Buckinghamshire ranks second in the country, behind only London, with some 490 scale-up businesses in 2023.
For the average growth in scale-up density since 2013, Buckinghamshire ranks fifth.
