Government Return to Work schemes

Four programmes have been launched to help councils with recruitment and also support professionals to return to work after a career break. Each scheme is designed to support a return to work and offers resources such as online training and networking opportunities.

It will also share vacancies for local councils looking to fill roles in these specialisms.

  • Return to Work - Social Work 
  • Return to Work – ICT 
  • Return to Work – Legal 
  • Return to Work – Planning

Candidates will receive training focused on developing technical skills, the latest developments in local government in your chosen field, soft skills and interview training.

There will also be an opportunity to connect with local councils that have vacancies. The programme does not guarantee employment but offers a way to get to know councils who are keen to engage with professionals in your field that are returning to work after a break.
