Help make Armed Forces Day 2019 the best yet!

Armed Forces Day gives the country the opportunity to say thank you to the men and women of the armed forces for the work that they do in protecting our nation. However, to make the event possible in Buckinghamshire, support is required from local businesses.

The government launched the national Armed Forces Day scheme in 2009. Since then, the Buckinghamshire Lieutenancy, with the support of Buckinghamshire County Council and other stakeholders, has delivered successful family fun day events highlighting the local community's support for Veterans, Serving Personnel, Reservists, Cadets, War Widows, their families and employers.

This year's Buckinghamshire Armed Forces Day is on Saturday June 29th 2019.

The aim for 2019 is to deliver another big family friendly fun day event for all, with a particular emphasis on saying thank you to the Armed Forces Family in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The event is funded by sponsorship, donations and income generated on the day itself.

It is an opportunity for businesses across the area to position themselves as a socially responsible organisation that is engaged with the community. As such, there are sponsorship packages for organisations and individuals to take advantage of.

There are various levels of sponsorship available, starting at £250. Every business that donates, even at the lowest level, will have the opportunity to have a stand at Armed Forces Day promoting themselves. Any profit generated will help to fund the next Armed Forces Day event.

For full details of the sponsorship packages available, read the Armed Forces Day sponsorship booklet here >

A message from Buckinghamshire County Council about Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a national event which gives the country the opportunity to say thank you to the men and women of the armed forces, past and present, for the work that they do in protecting our nation. A spectacular day of family fun is proposed for June 29th.

We are looking for sponsors to help us deliver another memorable day in 2019, on what will be the 10th anniversary of Armed Forces Day. In order to run at all, the event needs to be totally funded by sponsorship, donations and income generated on the day itself. Any profit generated will help to fund the next Armed Forces Day in 2021.

It is an ideal opportunity for businesses across the county and beyond to demonstrate their social responsibility and community engagement. We have a number of designed packages for organisations and individuals to take up. Details are available from the Civic and Ceremonial Events Team: bucksccevents@buckscc.gov.uk.

The Open University has been a long serving sponsor of the event in previous years and has committed to once again sponsoring Armed Forces Day in 2019. Lucian Hudson, Director of Communications, said: "We are always delighted to be involved in such a worthy event. Our armed forces do so much for us and this is a way of giving something back to them."

Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, said: "Anyone who has attended any of our AFD events in the past will know what a fantastic day out they make for the whole family. On the 10th anniversary, we hope to host another spectacular event and are planning to make the day free for all to attend. It's the perfect way to show our support to our armed forces families locally."
