Leave your mark on your local community

Heart of Bucks is the official Charity Partner of Buckinghamshire Business First, and we are delighted to share details of their Community Investor Fund, an amazing way for businesses to make a positive impact in the community where they work, both now and for years to come.

Below, Heart of Bucks describe just one of the great stories that came about from their Community Investor Fund and explain how your business can join other local businesses in making a difference.

Buckinghamshire businesses join together to fund project for local people with disabilities

Heart of Bucks have awarded the first grant from their Community Investor fund to Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust.

The Community Investor fund was established in November 2020 and enables businesses to join together to support the community where they work, safe in the knowledge that Heart of Bucks has the local expertise to maximise the funds and the impact that they make in Buckinghamshire.

The grant of £2,500 will be used by Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust towards its ‘Get Active’ project; a year-long physical activity project for people living with disabilities in the High Wycombe area.

Paul Foley, Head of Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust, said: “Thank you so much to Heart of Bucks and all of the organisations involved in the Community Investor fund. We are hugely honoured and appreciative that you selected us as the first recipients.”

What does the ‘Get Active’ project involve?

The aim of the ‘Get Active’ project is to improve the physical and mental health of people living with disabilities, as well as encourage social interaction through weekly multi-skill sessions. The one-hour sessions will be free to participants and will include puzzle-based games, ball games, equipment-free games and games that work on movements and coordination.

Henry Allmand, CEO of Heart of Bucks, said: “It’s fantastic to see our first grant wholly funded by this collaboration of like-minded local businesses. It has been a challenging time for Buckinghamshire-based charities and community groups and this business fund is making a real difference to important local issues.”

How does the Community Investor Fund work?

Heart of Bucks established the Community Investor Fund to make charitable giving for businesses straightforward and simple.

When a business donates to the Community Investor fund, they will be helping the local community both immediately and in the future. All donations are divided into funds that can be used for immediate support and money that is invested. This means that one donation will make a positive impact both now and in years to come.

Which local businesses are already involved in the Community Investor Fund?

It is thanks to the generous donations from the following local businesses that Heart of Bucks have been able to award this grant within a few months of the fund’s launch: Ashridge Group, Buckinghamshire Building Society, Buckinghamshire Business First, B P Collins LLP, Chandler Garvey, LP Motor Engineering, Passageways, RH Amar, and Seymour Taylor.
