Employers are asked to complete a questionnaire to support this vital research into the pursuit of giving all young people better opportunities.

What is the project about?

In 2022, central Government reinforced its commitment to supporting more young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) into employment. The Department for Education is funding a three-year programme to strengthen Supported Internship provision in England.

The aim of this project is to explore employment opportunities for young people within Buckinghamshire, looking at opportunities and barriers facing young people with additional needs.

The recommendations from this research will inform future provision for SEND young people within Buckinghamshire and build knowledge and cohesion between schools, colleges, employers, providers, and Buckinghamshire Council.

What will taking part involve?

Taking part will involve:

1. Completing a questionnaire

The questionnaires will seek your views on:

1. Current vacancies you have 
2. Which of these vacancies would be suitable for a young person with additional needs 
3. The benefits of employing a high functioning young person with additional needs
4. What you would need to put in place to provide an opportunity to a young person with additional needs 

The findings will be written up in a research report which can be shared with those interested.

Who is carrying out the research?

Seetec have been commissioned to support Buckinghamshire Council with this project. Seetec are one of the UK and Ireland’s largest employee-owned public service providers, and whose Research Unit carries out research into people’s experiences of education, employability, and justice services.
