As Low Carbon Workspaces ends, what's next?

After more than six years of delivery, the Low Carbon Workspaces programme is ending. But as you’ll read in this article, we’re already looking at the next steps to help businesses achieve a low carbon workspace – and we want you along for the journey.

I am proud to say that we have helped more than 900 businesses across the region to reduce their emissions and collectively save more than £2 million on energy bills each year!

A lot has changed since the Low Carbon Workspaces programme began, and the global environmental outlook is more dire than ever, meaning the pressure on businesses is huge.

A light in the darkness

This makes it even more important to celebrate the successes. After all, it is businesses in all sectors who can inspire and deliver the innovations that move us forward in the transition to net zero.

Working on the programme since 2018, I have witnessed first-hand the positive impact that projects funded by Low Carbon Workspaces have had on the environment and local economies.

Together, we have saved a staggering 4,900 tonnes of CO2e per year, equivalent to the yearly energy use of 1,500 homes.

What's next? Join us on July 14th to find out!

I would love for you to join me on Friday July 14th for an online event celebrating our combined achievements and to hear from businesses who moved to the next level of sustainability after receiving support from our team.

This event:

  • takes a celebratory trip down memory lane with several businesses who successfully introduced their own low carbon strategies
  • gives us focus as we remain in the present, spreading passion and ideas to help more organisations reduce their carbon footprint and embrace eco-friendly solutions
  • looks at how we can ensure a brighter, greener future through innovation, emerging technologies, and practical solutions

The fight continues

Net Zero Week runs from July 1st-7th and is the UK's national awareness week for all things net zero.

There are plenty of resources available for businesses, as well as plenty of events taking place throughout the week. Many of the events are live webinars - you can see the events schedule here.

The organisers of Net Zero Week have made a collection of marketing materials freely available to anyone wanting to get their net zero message out on social media.

You do not need to be a directly involved stakeholder in Net Zero Week in order to use these resources, but the organisers ask that you include the web address www.netzeroweek.com and hashtag #NetZeroWeek in all posts.

Keep on, and keep inspiring

Our work will never be complete. The climate crisis remains the biggest challenge facing humanity and we must act now to protect our planet for future generations.

That is why I urge you to continue your low carbon journey and inspire others to follow your example!

If you need some inspiration too, check out the below video of inspiring stories about how businesses have reduced their carbon emissions and saved money thanks to the support of Low Carbon Workspaces.
