Apprenticeship funding

Apprenticeships are available to organisations of all sizes, with Government funding available towards the cost of apprenticeship training and assessment.

Levy-paying employers can use their Apprenticeship Levy funds, while eligible non-levy employers can access Government funding. For new starts from 1 August 2026, the Government funds 100% of training and assessment costs, up to the funding band maximum, for eligible apprentices aged 16–24. For apprentices aged 25+, non-levy employers normally contribute just 5%, with Government funding the remaining 95%.

There may be additional financial benefits when recruiting a new apprentice. From October 2026, eligible non-levy paying employers recruiting a new apprentice aged 16–24 may receive a £2,000 hiring payment, subject to the relevant eligibility criteria. Other incentive payments may also be available depending on the age and circumstances of the apprentice.

Employers can also benefit from National Insurance savings when employing an apprentice under 25. Employers normally pay 0% employer Class 1 National Insurance contributions on earnings up to £50,270 per year for an eligible apprentice under 25.

Together, these benefits can make apprenticeships a highly cost-effective way to develop existing employees or recruit and develop new talent, while building the skills your organisation needs for the future.
