Funding available for plastic packaging solutions

UK Research & Innovation invites applications for projects that tackle consumer and business behaviour, new recyclable materials and packaging, circular supply chains, and more.

Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) programme

Funding is available for plastic packaging solutions via the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) programme, which aims to establish the UK as a leading innovator in smart and sustainable plastic packaging for consumer products, delivering cleaner growth across the supply chain, with a dramatic reduction in plastic waste entering the environment by 2025.

SSPP will drive research and innovation to develop more sustainable plastic packaging materials and designs, new recycling processes and infrastructure, and integrated circular supply chains combined with consumer behaviour insights to achieve a reduction in the negative environmental impacts caused by plastic packaging.

Outline proposals are required by 17th March 2020 and full proposals by 16th June 2020.

These businesses are driving innovation and change to contribute towards a better world, so whether you are visiting the Expo or exhibiting on the day, you can pop by and learn so much about ensuring your business leaves a positive mark on the world. #NetZeroBucks - become a Low Carbon Champion

#NetZeroBucks is a campaign that we have launched at Buckinghamshire Business First to create a net zero Buckinghamshire economy.

Carbon reduction is one of the most pressing issues facing our society and planet today. It can be hard for ‘big picture’ issues to cut through amid the daily grind, and it can be uncomfortable to admit to ourselves that we as individuals play a contributing part in climate change and have a responsibility to reverse the damage. But cut through it must, and responsible we are.

Let us know what you are doing to reduce your energy consumption

If you want to join the campaign to contribute towards a Net Zero Buckinghamshire, get involved and tell us what you are already doing to reduce your carbon output or the steps you plan to take.

Check out useful low carbon resources

Here at Buckinghamshire Business First, we are not only looking at how we can reduce plastics, waste and carbon in our own business, we are looking at how our community of local businesses can drive innovation and change in their own organisations to contribute towards a Net Zero Buckinghamshire economy.

To that end, we are pulling together inspiration, ideas and resources that we have developed over 10 years of delivering low carbon-focused initiatives.

Visit the #NetZeroBucks webpage for inspiration and resources.
