How many businesses are there in Buckinghamshire?
There were 33,900 VAT / PAYE registered businesses in Buckinghamshire in 2017. Of these, 77.4 per cent employed fewer than five people, the highest share of any county council or Local Enterprise Partnership area. Over the last year, the number of businesses in Buckinghamshire has fallen 0.8 per cent.

Company registrations
There were 1,247 new businesses registered in Buckinghamshire in the second quarter of 2018 (July to September), according to Companies House, down 3.1 per cent compared to the previous quarter.

Jobs in Buckinghamshire
There were 231,000 employee jobs in Buckinghamshire in 2017, 4,000 fewer than in 2016. Total employment fell by 3,000 to 241,000. Buckinghamshire recorded the 5th weakest performance among the 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) for jobs growth in the last year and was one of only seven LEPs to see a fall in jobs.

Claimant count
Buckinghamshire’s claimant count rose by 55 in September to stand at 3,035, or 0.9 per cent of working age residents. Buckinghamshire has the 3rd lowest claimant count rate among the 27 county council areas, ranking 2nd lowest among the 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).

House building
There were 1,920 new dwellings completed in Buckinghamshire in the year to the end of June 2018, representing 0.9 per cent of existing stock. This was the 11th highest house building rate of the 27 county councils, ranking 9th among England’s 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships.

House prices and sales
Despite rising for a second successive month in July, Buckinghamshire’s average house prices have fallen 1.3 per cent over the last year to stand at £405,615.
