Sponsor in the Spotlight: Cerub PR

The media partners of the Buckinghamshire Business Awards explain what award wins can do for business & how PR can help promote any success.

The latest in our Sponsor in the Spotlight series in the build-up to the Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2019 on October 9th focuses on Cerub PR, valued media partners of the awards.

Ceri-Jane Hackling, Cerub PR’s Managing Director, gave us an insight into their involvement in the awards.

What does it mean to Cerub PR to be a part of the Buckinghamshire Business Awards?

We are very proud of our involvement in the Buckinghamshire Business Awards. Cerub PR has been Buckinghamshire Business First's media partner at the awards for over six years now and it's great to see how the awards have grown to become one of the most prestigious business award ceremonies in the area.

Cerub PR have won several awards over the years, including the Bill Bendyshe-Brown Award presented at the Buckinghamshire Business Awards ceremony in 2014. What kind of boost does winning an award give a business?

We are very proud of having been winners at the awards. One of the best things about the Buckinghamshire Business Awards is that the judging process is taken very seriously. It's not a popularity contest with your friends or your LinkedIn connections voting for you.

In this case your business is judged on its achievements and the panel are passionate about identifying businesses which have achieved growth and have solid plans for the future. The application and judging process is very thorough which means that when you win, you really deserve to win, which is a huge boost to the business and to the team which have contributed to the success of the business. Winning an award is a wonderful achievement and should be celebrated.

What role does PR play in making the most of the benefits of winning an award?

PR is absolutely essential to make the most of winning an award. As media partners, we're responsible for the news announcements and newspaper supplements which come out in the week following the awards, but the winners need to ensure they do their bit to capitalise on their win. This could include:

  • sending a press release out to the trade press covering their industry, using pictures from the evening on their social media platforms
  • sending out a news announcement to suppliers and clients to tell them about the win
  • including the award logo on their website and on their email signatures

All this goes towards raising their profile and showing that they are a credible, award winning business. Many businesses are reluctant to show off their achievements but it's so important to make the most of the opportunities that winning an award can bring.

Will Cerub PR be represented at the awards ceremony in October? What are you most looking forward to about the evening?

We will certainly be at the awards! It's a great night out and it's a good opportunity to catch up with our friends in the business community in a relaxed, fun environment. We're always delighted to see who wins and it's lovely to be able to celebrate their achievements with them. Let's be honest, it's also a great excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a few glasses of champagne!
